Welcome to My Balsa & Glass Workshop

“My Balsa & Glass Workshop website has been developed to provide you with just a small sampling of what you can accomplish in the hobbies of Radio Controlled (RC) Balsa model aircraft building and Stained Glass works. Most of the projects you will find in this website were assembled in my small 12′x24′ Workshop seen above, where you see the Stained Glass Assembly Area on the right side, and Balsa Model Assembly Areas on the left side and far center with one of my build projects, the Beechcraft Starship. Check out my latest builds, and I hope you enjoy my website.”

While doing some research for my website, I just happened to follow a couple links and came across a very nice website titled “Stained Glass News.” Stained Glass News is a full-color newspaper which has been dedicated to informing, entertaining and inspiring stained glass hobbyists for 36 years. Take a moment and click on their drop-down menus to subscribe to the news letter (which I have done), order back issues that go all the way back to the first issue in February 1988, and view a gallery of some nice stained glass projects submitted by various artists. I really liked the “Reader's Workshop” section. There are some AWESOME stained glass workshops shown there. They are located at Stained Glass News, P.O. Box 922, Newaygo, MI 49337. You can also jump to their website @: "Stained Glass News".

wsrc

Winston-Salem Radio Control Club (WSRC) was established in 1963 and their primary mission is to promote radio control aeromodeling in the greater Central North Carolina RC community. They are a Gold Leader chartered club of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and a FAA Recognized Identification Area (FRIA). Their beautiful flying field was established in 1996 and is situated in the center of Davie County near the town of Mocksville, approximately 20 miles West of Winston-Salem. The field has two pavilions/pit areas with electricity and a nice club house looking out over 700′ of well maintained grass runway. There even is a small geo-textile runway that allows smaller electrics enough room for take-offs. On hand are model assembly benches and engine starting and run-up benches, all custom built by the club members. Just click on the image above to see what WSRC has to offer. You can also check out the latest schedule of Central North Carolina area flying club events @ RC Flying Clubs Calendars.

tai

Triad AeroModelers Inc. (TAI) began flying together as a club back in the early 1990's. The purpose of TAI is to provide a forum to enjoy fellowship among members and friends, and to promote model aviation as a worthwhile recreational activity in the TRIAD area. They also are a Gold Leader chartered club of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and a FAA Recognized Identification Area (FRIA). Their current flying field, R.G. Satow RC Flying Field, was established in 1997 and is situated in Davidson County just outside of Lexington. The field covers a total area of 30 acres of unobstructed land. They have an 80′ x 700′ well maintained grass runway that was graded, crowned and re-seeded in 2015. There is a covered shelter area with plenty of picnic tables for watching RC aircraft while relaxing in the shade. In the pit area they provide the pilots with 15 starting and run-up benches, all custom built by club members. Just click on the image above to see what TAI has to offer.
